On the Uses of Private Members' Business

Whereas:

The eligibility list for getting one's turn on the Order of Precedence for Private Member's business is determined by random draw at the beginning of a session.

It will take until late fall or early winter to get to #31 on the Order; therefore, someone who is, say #180 on the list will not, under any conceivable circumstances, have the opportunity to have his item debated in this or any Parliament, minority or no.

Be it resolved that:

The Honourable Member of Huron-Bruce be recognized for his unnecessary and legislatively impotent attempt to reopen the abortion debate .

Be it further resolved that:

Any claim that he was of coerced or threatened into such action, even from the downright terrifying REAL Women of Canada, will be heartily disputed, as he has already advertised his ability to defend himself.

Whereas:

-The detention and charging of 17 suspected individuals in connection to planned acts of terrorism in Toronto today represent an important step in the fight against global terror;
-The government recognizes that the safety of all Canadians is of paramount importance;

Be it resolved that:

-This action does not lead to a modern-day version of the Salem Witch Hunt in an attempt to turn up new terrorists left, right and centre just because they happen to belong to a certain ethnic group or have parents two generations back from the targeted groups ...
